Summary:
Was my father really a spy, as his file in the former East German Secret Service (STASI) suggests? This question marks the starting point of a personal and ironic journey into my father’s past which still remains somewhat mysterious even today. As his son and as a filmmaker I have started a thorough examination of his life. After over one year of research I find myself confronted with a huge pile of material: boxes full of memories, old letters, official and private documents, photos, audio recordings and video tapes. Family events are suddenly intermingled with facts from contemporary history.
